A wonderful deciduous tree with a broad open crown. In spring, delicate deep cut serrated foliage emerge with dark glossy green leaves turning a beautiful golden yellow lasting well through the autumn. The elegant smooth silvery grey bark gives further winter interest.
Fern leaf Beech is a majestic specimen tree, slow growing with a pyramidal shape when young and broadening with age to a broad open crown and a mature height of more than 12m and spread of 8m or more.
Fagus sylvatica has a shallow root system and needs planting in a location with at least 10m distance from other planting. It likes a sheltered position away from coastal regions and does best in full sun or partial shade in any well-drained soil excepting heavy clay or light sand

History: Introduced to the UK in the 1800’s and is a favourite as a specimen tree. It won the RHS Award of Garden Merit in 2002
The tree is watered before being carefully packed by one of our experienced staff on site. It comes in a cardboard box lined with straw. (We try to use as much recycling material as possible) The box is addressed to the customer or a specified name and address and sent out overnight delivery to arrive on requested dates.
