Daphne odora ‘Aureomarginata’ has sweetly scented little buds which remain poised, sensibly waiting for the weather to cheer up a little. Suddenly the air is filled with an intoxicating fragrance before you notice they have burst their buds.
Winter Daphne is one of the most fragrant plants, sometimes blooming in December but generally, they need some mild weather – a symbol of Spring approaching.
Fairly hardy, the Daphne plant does need protection so plant in a wind-free, sunny sheltered position in a border or pot, near your front or back door so that you can enjoy their perfume. A sprig or two will fill a room with its lovely scent.
Daphne is difficult to propagate, hence they are quite expensive but once settled they are well worth the cost as they give year-round pleasure although they are primarily loved for their early colour and glorious fragrance. They sometimes produce red berries later in the year. Neither flowers, leaves nor berries should be eaten by humans or pets as they are toxic and a skin irritant. Winter Daphne once settled, resist transplanting so make sure you plant it in the right place.

(We try to use as much recycling material as possible) The box is addressed to the customer or a specified name and address and sent out overnight delivery to arrive on requested dates.
Please note the size of the tree that you are ordering, as our trees are provided for our clients to plant themselves, which may appear at a small size rather than the fully grown tree as shown in the photos. To find out more information, please visit our Delivery & Returns page.
