Description
A small graceful specimen tree grown for its habit, foliage and edible fruit. Elegantly weeping branches with small 5 petalled creamy-white flowers opening as lance shaped silvery grey leaves emerge in mid-spring. Fruit is small and brown and preferred more by birds and wildlife than humans. Weed, mulch and compost in spring while young.
Fully hardy and likes sun and a well-drained soil. Pears are quite tolerant of both drought and moisture and can also be planted in cold areas. They are also tolerant of smoke pollution so are suitable for urban areas. Height in Maturity approx 6m x 4m / 20ft x 14ft.
