The Spindle Tree is a delightful small bushy tree known for its leaves that turn a spectacular red in autumn. Marvelous carmine pink fruits open to reveal orange seed pods. Suitable for small gardens and containers. Often seen in hedgerows and helpful to wildlife.

Description

A much overlooked little tree, useful and undemanding whilst giving great pleasure with its beautiful red autumn colour followed by very pretty carmine pink fruit which open to reveal bright orange seed pods. (Not edible) It is useful to wildlife and birds and was often seen in hedgerows and growing wild but does deserve a place in a small garden or container, being undemanding and easy to grow. Fully hardy, it likes sun or partial shade and any well-drained soil. A useful tree, it can be grown on chalk. While young give it a weed, mulch and feed in spring.
