Red Cascade is a vigorous deciduous shrub-like tree with green leaves turning glorious bright red and yellow foliage in autumn. Small greenish yellow flowers are followed by beautiful rose-pink fruit opening to show bright orange seeds inside, often remaining long after the leaves have fallen. A delightful tree for any garden.
Euonymus europaeus are easy to grow, thriving in full sun, partial shade and both sheltered or exposed sites. It settles well in moist soils, is chalk tolerant but does like good drainage. The Spindle tree does not require regular pruning, if needed, tidy up the branches in the dormant season, removing damaged or overcrowded branches. If you want Red Cascade to be more tree like with a straight stem, remove lower side shoots which helps the crown broaden.
