Known as the Christmas Berry, Photinia Red Robin is an evergreen, shrub like tree of erect bushy habit with glossy elliptic leaves, about 10cm in length. The leaves are bright red when young, changing to a darker green with age. Small sparse creamy white flowers in April/May are followed by red berries. Often found in urban gardens as they do not involve much upkeep, growing in most soils, Photinia Red Robin is fully hardy, likes sun or partial shade and does best planted in a north, south or east aspect. They are also reliable in both sheltered and exposed areas.
Photinias being evergreen and fairly fast growing make an excellent hedge. Light prune to tidy the shape although the shrub/tree will respond well to heavy pruning if a particular shape, height or spread is required.
The tree is watered before being carefully packed by one of our experienced staff on site. It comes in a cardboard box lined with straw. (We try to use as much recycling material as possible) The box is addressed to the customer or a specified name and address and sent out overnight delivery to arrive on requested dates.
Please note the size of the tree that you are ordering, as our trees are provided for our clients to plant themselves, which may appear at a small size rather than the fully grown tree as shown in the photos.
