Overall seen as a medium sized tree, will produce double white flowers in spring which can often cover the whole tree. Just before they fall will develop a faint pink blush. Dark green lobed leaves before small red berries known as haws will appear in Autumn. Leaves will change colour to yellow and bronze, before dropping for the winter. The Flowers will attract birds and bees, with the haws, providing food for wildlife in the colder months. Can grow in all but the wettest of areas with it being hardy and tolerant to cold winds and costal areas, though you may not get its best displays of flowers in these conditions. It is well-suited for a variety of landscape uses, including ornamental planting, wildlife gardens, and hedging. Its adaptability and low maintenance requirements make it a popular choice for many gardeners.
