A Magnolia in bloom is a spectacular sight. Magnolia ‘Heaven Scent’, as its name suggests has a display of richly scented flushed deep pink flowers, white within, blooming in mid-spring and early summer, often before and after the glossy green leaves. Generally planted as a specimen tree, it is deciduous and suitable for most gardens reaching an approx height and spread of 9m x 5m / 27ft x 20ft.

This Magnolia has a wonderful display of Heaven Scent flowers and a delicate subtle fragrance. Slow-growing and elegant Magnolia plants are generally planted as specimen trees both in towns and the country. They like the sun and neutral soil but will tolerate most soils provided it is humus rich. Manure or compost should be added to the soil before planting. No pruning and should only be for clearing dead or diseased wood. All trees benefit from weeds, mulch, and compost in spring.

Two no-nos –  Magnolia ‘Heaven Scent’ trees do not like their roots disturbed once planted so do not plant too close to other trees and shrubs. Be careful of wind as this can damage the flowers.
