Description
A vigorous deciduous shrub or tree with broadly oval lobed green leaves turning red in autumn. Their creamy white lacy flowers appear in late spring and early summer. Bunches of bright red fruit give much pleasure in the darker months. A distinctive native tree.
Fully hardy, the Guelder rose can be grown in sun or semi-shade and deep not too dry soil. To thin out overgrown plants, cut out older shoots after flowering. Low maintenance, they will benefit from a good weed, mulch and compost in spring. Suitable for all gardens, hedging and woodland. The fruit helps feed our birds and other wildlife.
