The Foundations of Trees Direct The foundations and heart of Trees Direct is all built on family. Started by Richard and Diana Beamish in 1998, the business has grown over the years into the success it is today. From starting with selling trees as gifts, to expanding into wholesale, Trees Direct has always stuck to its roots of being a family business. Their daughter, Poppy, has now joined the business, with the hopes of passing it down to her own daughter, Alice, one day. Their son Harry, although not part of the day-to-day operations, uses his environmental business acumen to stay involved. Who makes up the Trees Direct family? The Trees Direct family extends outside of blood relations. Kerrie, our nursery manager, has been with us for over thirteen years. Making sure our trees, plants and shrubs are well looked after, maintained to a high standard, and packed up safely and comfortably ready to send all over the country to our customers. Helping Kerrie with caring for our trees, is our outside crew. Rich, Josh, Dave and Ian all help to keep our nursery well-stocked, clean and tidy. They are the ones responsible for ensuring all of our stock is looked after, packaged and placed onto the courier vans safely. Diana, filled with years of experience and expert knowledge, first thought up using: The Celtic Tree Calendar as a way to link one’s birthday to trees. Each tree represents a different zodiac month. Diana’s brilliant idea is now used by many all over the industry. The newest member of the team, Hermione, brought on as our Marketing Apprentice, is helping us to bring Trees Direct to a wider, younger audience and reignite the spark within people that giving trees as gifts says so much to the world. We are now on TikTok! We want to encourage people on how to help our wonderful world, environment and wildlife. We pride ourselves on our knowledge of our trees and shrubs. Between the office staff, Kerrie and her outside team, we are constantly keeping an eye on our trees to make sure they too, are living their best lives. For example, with the colder weather coming in fast, our citrus trees have just been moved into the greenhouse for the winter. With their summer spot being kept free for them for whenever the warm weather comes back. Customer service is at the heart of our business. We are always at the end of the phone. Call us for advice or questions! Our phone lines are always busy as we love to chat with people who love trees and shrubs as much as we do. Please do get in touch with us if you have any questions or queries… BACK TO ARTICLES
