Everyone loves a rose, so why not celebrate Rose Day? Rose Day is associated with Valentine’s Day and marks the beginning of this occasion, which is now only a week away! The cultivation of the rose began thousands of years ago in China and can now be seen in many gardens around the world.

 

 

 

We have created a list of our favourite rose plants that are guaranteed to brighten up your garden as well as being a long-lasting gift to give that special someone this Valentine’s Day.

Rose Bonica

 

A popular rose that is one of the most successful and widely planted of all modern roses. Rich pink buds that open up and showcase a mass of bright pale pink flowers blooming continuously from early to mid-summer through to Autumn.

A fully hardy rose that thrives in most soils except for chalk. Roses do prefer fertile, well-drained soil and love sun with a little shade. This is a versatile rose as it can be grown as a shrub, ground cover or container rose and can even be cut to make a beautiful flower arrangement. A lovely gift to give this Valentine’s Day!

Rose Peace

 

This pink-edged, yellow rose is the perfect gift for surprising your Valentine. A large sweetly fragrant rose that is vigorous with right green glossy foliage. The peace rose, formally known as Madame A. Meilland is one of the world’s most famous roses and a very successful garden Rose. A hybrid tea rose that gives much pleasure from June to September. They are perfect for brightening up garden borders and patio containers and can also be cut and enjoyed inside your home as a lovely bouquet.

Rose Duchess of Cornwall

 

This beautiful upright, bushy, deciduous rose has glossy, dark green foliage and large olive green leaves. Buds open orange to soft pink quartered double flowers that are around 8-10cm and appear in flushes throughout the summer and autumn. Providing a lovely light, spicy fragrance and works well in containers and beds. Rose Duchess of Cornwall will make the perfect gift this Valentine’s Day and year-round as it flowers early and repeats well!

Rose a Whiter Shade of Pale

 

A stunning rose that gives pleasure throughout the summer with its beautiful soft pink roses that open from pretty buds in June to September and sometimes in October. This rose has a delicious fragrance that lasts even when picked, making a lovely flower arrangement. Rose a Whiter Shade of Pale is disease resistant with an upright, slightly spreading habit and can grow to about 1 meter and 60cm in width.
