Purple Japanese Maple

The Japanese Maple Tree is a beautifully shaped deciduous tree with small purple-red flowers in spring and purple leaves which turn brilliant red in autumn. Best in a sheltered spot protected from the wind. A lovely specimen tree but also suitable for a small garden or container. This purple Acer tree likes sun or semi-shade, fertile well-drained soil preferably neutral to acid.

What makes this Japanese maple distinctive: Its purple foliage turns brilliant red in autumn, with purple-red spring flowers. Listed at 3–5 metres when mature, it suits a sheltered small garden or container. Plant in sun or partial shade in fertile, well-drained, neutral-to-acid soil, and protect it from wind.
