Create a natural, wildlife-friendly paddock or field boundary with our specially selected Horse and Livestock-Friendly Native Hedgerow Mix.

This mix contains Hawthorn, Hazel, Field Maple, Crab Apple and Dog Rose. We have deliberately excluded Spindle, Blackthorn and Wild Cherry, creating a more considered selection for planting around horses and grazing livestock.

Hawthorn and Hazel form the main structure of the hedge, establishing a strong, traditional boundary. Field Maple adds attractive foliage and autumn colour, while Crab Apple and Dog Rose provide seasonal blossom, fruit and hips for added interest and wildlife value.

Why we chose this mix

  • Carefully selected for planting around horses and livestock

  • No Spindle, Blackthorn or Wild Cherry

  • Predominantly Hawthorn and Hazel for a strong hedge structure

  • Provides blossom, foliage, fruit and autumn colour

  • Creates shelter and a natural field or paddock boundary

  • Supports birds, bees and other wildlife

  • Hardy British native varieties

Pack size and planting

We recommend planting five bare root whips per metre, which is how our packs are sold. Simply order the number of metres required.

Available to pre-order

This hedgerow mix is available to pre-order for the bare root planting season. Orders will be prepared and dispatched in the order in which they are received, so we recommend ordering early—particularly for longer hedgerows and larger projects.

Young plants should be protected from grazing while they establish, and the hedge should be used alongside suitable stock-proof fencing rather than as the sole means of containment.
