The Sweetheart Cherry produces firm, sweet fruit with a refreshing touch of acidity. Unlike many cherry varieties, its fruit ripens gradually over several weeks, providing a longer cropping period from late August into September. Its spring blossom is also beneficial to bees, insects and other wildlife.

Grown on dwarf rootstock, this compact tree reaches approximately 2–3 metres, making it ideal for smaller gardens or a large patio container. Hardy and resilient, it performs well throughout much of the UK, including northern regions.

Plant in a sunny position with rich, fertile, well-aerated and freely draining soil. Like other cherry trees, it should be pruned during summer to reduce the risk of silver leaf disease. Prune early in the growing season and thereafter only as needed to remove dead or diseased growth.
