Herefordshire Russet is noted for its abundant cropping that ripens in October. The apples are small to medium fruit with golden russet skin and a delicious rich aromatic flavour, similar to a Cox. Good for juicing too. Easy to grow, very hardy, and disease-resistant.
Our tree has MM.106 rootstock so semi-vigorous and only grows to about 5 metres. Russet apple trees are well shaped and well-spurred trees.
History: Despite its name, Hereford Russet is a modern variety bred by Hugh Ermen in Kent in 2002. Parentage: Cox’s Orange Pippin x Golden Delicious.
