A most unusual yellow Magnolia tree with very beautiful faintly fragrant primrose yellow blooms, upward facing with long tapering buds opening to reveal pretty stamens as they mature. Magnolia Elizabeth blooms in late April/early May just before the new coppery-bronze oval-shaped leaves mature to dark glossy green before turning golden yellow in autumn.
A small to a medium slender conical-shaped tree with an upright habit, Magnolia Elizabeth makes a wonderful feature, especially as a bush in a garden with limited space. Plant in a sheltered position in full sun or partial shade as buds and flowers can be damaged by cold winds and late frosts. Elizabeth is hardy and likes fertile, slightly acidic well-drained soil. Prune gently only if necessary either after flowering or in late summer.
