Pink Champagne bears clusters of beautiful double shell-pink blossom lightening to near white as they age. The delicate frilled appearance borne on long stalks gives a glorious display in April to May. The foliage is bronze-green maturing to green in summer with an attractive display of orange-red in autumn.
A vigorous upright spreading tree with ascending branches growing to about 6m x 4m in 20 years. Ichiyo is best grown in well-drained soil, in full sun to achieve the wonderful display. A sheltered position will also protect the blossom display.
History: Introduced to Europe by Captain Collingwood Ingram when on a visit to Sakura Kwai in 1926 and was brought back and grown in his home in Kent.
Received the Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit
The tree is watered before carefully packed by one of our experienced staff on site. It comes in a cardboard box lined with straw. (We try to use as much recycling material as possible) The box is addressed to the customer or a specified name and address and sent out overnight delivery to arrive on requested dates.
Please note the size of the tree that you are ordering, as our trees are provided for our clients to plant themselves, which may appear at a small size rather than the fully grown tree as shown in the photos. To find out more information, please visit our Delivery & Returns page.
