The Crab Apple Rudolph is an upright deciduous tree with the crown rounding as it ages with beautiful single dark rose-pink red blossom in late spring. The foliage on a Malus Rudolph emerges after flowering and is initially copper red in colour turning to green in summer and yellow in autumn. It produces small edible orange-yellow fruit in the autumn.
This Crab Apple is very hardy and extremely resistant to disease and is a perfect choice for gardens with year-round interest. It has a shallow but vigorous root system and will thrive well in most soil types, chalk, clay, loam or sand, well- drained fertile, and a sunny or shady position. Tolerant of pollution.
Crab Apple Rudolph is often used as an avenue tree, planted with Malus Evereste as they complement each other well. Rabbit guards are recommended.
