The Bird Cherry has dark green leaves which turn a lovely yellow in autumn. A fairly shallow-rooted tree, it dislikes deep cultivation around them. Best to avoid soils that are very dry or prone to waterlogging.

A satisfying tree and easy to grow. Suitable for medium and large gardens as it can grow up to 15 metres. Fully hardy, likes sun and can be grown in most soils. Often used in Hedgerow when trimmed as it will stay small, however don’t trim too much. We suggest pruning mid-summer after flowering to prevent silver leaf curl. Otherwise, if necessary, prune after leaves have fallen in winter. Do try to mulch, preferably with organic matter in late winter. Well-loved by all insects, birds and other little wildlife.
