The Apple Scrumptious produces clouds of pale pink blossoms in late spring followed by bright green foliage over the summer. Their apples appear earlier in autumn than some other cultivars surrounded by lovely orange and red leaves. An arching small but spreading tree that can be kept in a container or great in a garden where space is at a premium.
Another propagate by Hugh Erman the Apple Scrumptious was given the award of Garden Merit’ by the UK Royal Horticultural Society in 2010. It is a cross between a Discovery and the Golden Delicious. The Scrumptious is hardy but prefers full sun and fertile well-drained soil of clay, loam or sand. Bear this in mind when planting. As with most apples, a light winter prune helps maintain its shape and productivity. Easy to grow, beautiful in blossom, and generous in fruit, ‘Scrumptious’ truly earns its name.
