Herefordshire Russet Apple trees are well-spurred trees, well-shaped, and fairly vigorous. Despite its name, Hereford Russet is a modern variety bred by Hugh Ermen in Kent in 2002 by crossing a Cox’s Orange Pippin with a Golden Delicious. The result is a compact, productive tree with outstanding flavour and excellent disease resistance. This variety is easy to grow and well-suited to British conditions, including cooler regions. Pretty as well as productive.
Bare root planting in winter is the best way to establish a healthy, long-lived tree, ensuring strong roots before spring growth begins. With its combination of flavour, reliability, and ornamental value, ‘Herefordshire Russet’ is a fine choice for any garden orchard.

The tree is watered before being carefully packed by one of our experienced staff on site. It comes in a cardboard box lined with straw. (We try to use as much recycling material as possible) The box is addressed to the customer or a specified name and address and sent out overnight delivery to arrive on requested dates.
Please note the size of the tree that you are ordering, as our trees are provided for our clients to plant themselves, which may appear at a small size rather than the fully grown tree as shown in the photos. To find out more information, please visit our Delivery & Returns page.
