The Apple Egremont Russet produces good regular crops of apples which are flushed a brownish-red. The apples have firm yellow flesh with a distinctive nutty flavour through autumn into winter. Although self fertile it will produce more fruit if it has a chance to cross-pollinate. This apple tree is a classic old English variety, valued since the 19th century for its unique flavour and attractive bronze fruits. The tree is medium-sized and vigorous, with a neat, well-branched habit. In spring, it is covered in a profusion of pink-white blossom, which delights bees and other pollinators.
Easy to grow and relatively low maintenance, it benefits from full sun and fertile, well-drained soil. Like all apples, it should be pruned in the dormant season to maintain its strength and shape. With its deliciously different taste and reliable crops each autumn, the ‘Egremont Russet’ Apple tree is a great choice for traditional gardens and orchards.

Symbolism Apple, domestica The apple has very similar associations with the quince. From Adam and Eve to the present day the apple has long been a symbol of love and romance, together with peace and happiness. The tree is watered before being carefully packed by one of our experienced staff on site. It comes in a cardboard box lined with straw. (We try to use as much recycling material as possible) The box is addressed to the customer or a specified name and address and sent out overnight delivery to arrive on requested dates.
Please note the size of the tree that you are ordering, as our trees are provided for our clients to plant themselves, which may appear at a small size rather than the fully grown tree as shown in the photos. To find out more information, please visit our Delivery & Returns page.
