Holly plants are a popular native to Britain and has a long-standing association with Christmas time, with branches often used to make wreaths and other accessories. Holly can often reach up to almost 15 metres as a mature tree and are identified by their silky, green leaves with sharp spikey edges, although these dull as the tree ages. This very slow growing shrub is often found in woodlands and hedgerows and presents an excellent source of food and shelter for birds and mammals.
