Autumn Sunshine, Fruitful Trees, A Little Rose Sale & A Little Rain

What a beautiful week it has been. The sunshine has returned, the autumn colours are beginning to glow and fruit trees are heavy with the last treasures of the season.

It is a wonderful time to step outside, enjoy the garden and appreciate everything it gives us—not only fruit and colour, but also food and shelter for wildlife.

Catch the Last of the Roses

To celebrate this lovely spell of sunshine, we are offering 20% off all roses for a limited time.

Some may still have a final flower or two to enjoy, although blooms cannot be promised at this time of year. The plants may not look picture-perfect as they naturally prepare for autumn, but they can be planted now and allowed to settle in before returning with fresh growth next year.

Crab Apple ‘Red Sentinel’

Crab Apple ‘Red Sentinel’ is a wonderful tree for autumn and winter colour. Its small, bright red crab apples can remain on the branches long after the leaves have fallen.

These fruits also provide a valuable source of food for birds as the seasons change. While some birds begin their journey south, others are preparing for the colder months here at home.

With pretty spring blossom, autumn colour and winter fruit, ‘Red Sentinel’ earns its place in the garden throughout the year.

Apple 'Laxton's Superb'

For traditional home-grown flavour, Apple ‘Laxton’s Superb’ is hard to beat. Its sweet, juicy apples are delicious picked fresh from the tree and bring a real taste of autumn to the garden.

In spring, the blossom provides food for bees and other pollinating insects. Later in the year, the fruit offers a welcome harvest for us—and anything left behind will soon be discovered by garden wildlife.

Pear 'Conference'

Pear ‘Conference’ is a much-loved favourite and a reliable choice for the garden. Its juicy pears are lovely eaten fresh or used in autumn puddings, preserves and baking.

Like our other fruit trees, it offers more than a harvest. Its spring blossom supports pollinators, while the tree provides shelter and interest for wildlife throughout the seasons.

The Changing Garden: Autumn Joy for Us and Wildlife

There is something very special about watching a garden change through autumn. Leaves slowly turn from green to gold, amber and red, fruits ripen on the branches and the softer light makes even a familiar corner feel different.

It is a lovely time to slow down, step outside and enjoy the small changes happening each day. A garden does not need to be large or perfectly tidy to bring pleasure. Even one tree can provide beautiful colour, a changing view and a quiet connection to the seasons.

While we enjoy the display, the garden is also helping wildlife. Blossom feeds pollinators in spring, leafy branches offer shelter through summer and autumn fruits provide valuable food for birds preparing for the colder months.

Planting a tree brings joy to us, but it also creates a small and lasting home for nature.
