Sending Trees As Gifts

The idea for Trees Direct was started round the dining room table in 1999, we became very excited and began to think we could create a business that would also help the environment. ‘A mail order company sending trees as gifts!’ Having never ordered something by mail order we were very green in the literal sense. Starting out in Christmas 1999 with the only the knowledge of horticulture and trees threw us in at the deep end but somehow we managed it and
Trees Direct was on its way.
Our aim is to encourage people to send trees as gifts. Trees can relieve the effect of carbon emissions and help our wildlife at the same time bringing beauty, lasting pleasure and remembrance.

We hope we are now tree perfect. We have expanded into larger trees, shrubs and garden gifts and hope to set up a small range of natural beauty products. All our tree gifts are potted, dressed in hessian bags tied with green garden string, planting instructions and hand written message card and sent out to arrive on the date requested.
We pride ourselves on sending our trees to arrive on our customers specified date and are always happy to work with customers to find their ideal tree.

On the Corporate side, we continue to work with many companies with excellent feed back. We have sent out as many as 1000 trees for one company which shows that more companies are seeing this as a way to improve their image and combat the effect of carbon emissions. We feel this is a way forward for companies to send out trees for promotions at the same time doing their bit to help the environment. The sad thing is that the very big corporates are not interested, falling as usual for the smaller more personally run companies to shoulder these responsibilities.

Each tree is hand packed using recycled shredded paper and other environmentally friendly packaging. We keep spraying to the very minimum and whenever possibly use English nurseries and naturally outdoor grown trees.
At Christmas we put a great deal of thought into sending out trees that are looking good for the time of year, all tied with rich green or red satin ribbons and Christmas cards.

Our interest in the customs and folklore of trees continues to grow and we now have a birthday tree for each month of the year. These trees arrive with a scroll with the symbolism and folklore of the tree. A thoughtful and loving gift for anyone, even those who have everything!

Lastly let us hope that the Corporations will see the promotion of trees as a way to help the world so that our children’s children will enjoy the beauty of the world that we accept so lightly today.
